Charcoal pit is supposedly a “Delaware tradition”. We came in for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised with the food, atmosphere and service.
The place is clean and service was friendly and fast. They have a lot of tables, more than I expected and even a dine-in counter for people eating alone.
We ordered raspberry iced tea and chicken tenders as an appetizer. Both were delicious. My entree (fried shrimp) came with two sides and I got a side salad and fries. The other person in my party got a burger but substituted chicken for the beef patty. The fries were a small portion but it was actually just enough to be full (if you’re really into fries, maybe order two sides).
Lastly, we got a chocolate milkshake to-go which was very thick and rich (barely could fit through the straw at first!) When getting the bill, it felt like good value for money.
The only downside is not many options for people with dietary restrictions. I would love to see a gluten-free bun or bread that could be substituted with all of their burgers and sandwich options! That would really make me want go come back. Overall it’s a nice diner type experience with good prices, friendly clean atmosphere and nice service 🙂
